Marine Officers' Spouses' Club of  Washington, D.C.    (MOSCDC)

A Message from Your President

Dear MOSCDC Members,

This month marks the Centennial of Marine Aviation. On May 22, 1912, 1st Lieutenant Alfred Cunningham reported to Annapolis, Maryland for naval aviator training, and a glorious era in Marine Corps history began. The Marine Corps is unique in that their ground combat units work closely with the aviation squadrons who supply close air support in combat. As a military fighting force, the synergy between our ground units and air units is unparalleled.

I hope you will have the opportunity to celebrate this momentous milestone, perhaps at one of the official Centennial Week events taking place May 14 – 20 at the Gaylord National Harbor Conference Center.

Whether you are a “wing” spouse or a “grunt” spouse or some combination of  both or even neither of the two, we all share a common history, speak the same language, and take pride in our Marines, our Marine families and in our Marine culture.  No better place is that commonality exemplified than in MOSCDC.

I hope you will be able to join us at the 2012 Installation of Officers Luncheon, taking place on May 16 in the Marine Family Garden at the Marine Corps Barracks. There, you will be able to thank our outgoing Board, meet the members of the incoming Board, and spend time once again with our Marine Corps Community.

Warmly,

Kimberly Coerr

President, MOSCDC
